09/16/2020 Daily Wildfire Update

Release date: 09/16/2020
Sept. 16, 2020 Update on the Chehalem/Mountain/Bald Peak and Powerline (Hagg Lake area) wildfires. Updates will be provided daily by the Washington County Wildfire Complex Joint Information Center.

About the Washington County wildfires

The Powerline Fire (Hagg Lake area) and Chehalem Mountain-Bald Peak wildfires ignited following historic late-summer east winds which extended from the Columbia Gorge to the Coast that hit the state on Sept. 7-8.

The high winds brought down trees and powerlines, igniting several wildfires throughout the area. Starting Tuesday, evacuations of residents and businesses began in areas near the Powerline Fire and Chehalem Mountain area. Avoid all unnecessary travel in these areas until further notice. See map

Firefighters throughout the County continue fight these and other, smaller fires that have cropped up. Fire danger remains high; use caution.
