Alcohol & Drug Prevention
The Washington County Alcohol and Drug Prevention Program coordinates community efforts to reduce underage drinking and drug use among youth. Our goal is to promote conditions for health and to prevent the occurrence or reduce the risk of substance abuse among young people, their families and communities.
Our prevention approach is based on research-based strategies, data driven decision-making and cultural responsiveness for comprehensive strategic planning and implementation that creates population-level as well as individual change.
We believe prevention should address risk and protective factors (which influence whether or not someone will develop a substance abuse problem) in as many contexts as possible.
