Project Information

Construction on the Oleson Road Bridge over Fanno Creek began in May 2014 and was completed one year later. The old substandard bridge was removed and replaced with a longer, wider structure. Improvements also included the addition of bicycle lanes, consistent sidewalks, street lighting, and storm system upgrades.

Travelers patiently endured an eight-month road closure on this heavily traveled roadway. There is limited work space near the bridge, and the closure was necessary for the contractor, Carter and Company, to replace the bridge safely and efficiently.

This project was funded through a combination of programs including the Federal Highway Administration's Highway Bridge Program (administered by the Oregon Department of Transportation), Surface Transportation Program funds from Metro, and County's Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program (MSTIP).
