Welcome to the Washington County Jail Phone Services page. This page provides information about inmate telephone services at the Washington County Jail. It is also a resource for individuals who wish to receive or block phone calls from inmates.
Inmate Access to Telephones
Inmates use telephones that are located throughout the jail housing units to place outgoing calls. Each housing unit has specific rules concerning the location of telephones, hours of use, and the length of calls allowed. The basic rules are:
Inmates have access to telephones during the day time, except during meals
Inmates cannot receive telephone calls
Jail staff will not relay messages
Inmates may place normal collect calls (subject to fees by your phone service provider) or they may use the Telmate prepaid phone account service
Inmates are not allowed to make non-typical collect calls, 3-way calls, or unwanted calls
Inmates using a prepaid phone account may receive voice mail messages
Phone calls, except for those made to the inmate's attorney and verified clergy members, are recorded
TTY services for the hearing impaired are available upon request
Prepaid Phone Accounts
The Washington County Jail uses an outside telephone service provider called Telmate. Telmate offers prepaid phone accounts at a lower per-minute cost than regular collect calls. An account can be set up for a specific phone number or a specific inmate. Inmate prepaid accounts allow an inmate to place collect calls to any unblocked phone number. Phone number prepaid accounts allow inmates to call one phone number, as long as that number is not blocked.
Telmate Calling Rates
Please contact Telmate at (866) 516-0115, or online through Telmate.
Citizens may purchase prepaid phone services using the kiosks located in the public areas at the Washington County Sheriff's Office, by calling (866) 516-0115, or online through Telmate.
Inmates can purchase prepaid phone time using funds in their inmate account, through the jail commissary. The inmate will receive a voicemail message when prepaid minutes have been credited.
Rejecting or Blocking Calls from Inmates
If you receive a call from an inmate, you will be given the option of accepting the call, hanging up, blocking all calls from the inmate, or blocking all calls from any inmates in the Washington County Jail. Simply follow the phone prompts during the call.
Please remember that the Washington County Jail does not administer the Telmate phone system. If you have questions about the service, prepaid phone cards, leaving voice mails or inmates, or issues concerning phone number blocking, you must contact Telmate online or at (866) 516-0115. (There may be fees associated with contacting Telmate customer service by phone or online.)
If you have questions about the jail that do not involve phone services, please review the additional topics listed down the left side of this page or contact us at (503) 846-2600 or via e-mail.
